just finished!

Part of my day zero project is to read 100 books.  Finished one!  In less than 18 hours I finished “A Household Guide to Dying” by Debra Adelaide.  I heard her speak at Wordfest in Banff in the fall of 2009.  It was a beautiful book about a woman dying from cancer, and preparing herself and her family.  I know!  It sounds really uplifting!  But it was.  It was an amazing look at being a woman and a mother and how it becomes all-encompassing in our lives.  I don’t want to give a lot away, as I encourage you to hunt down a copy for yourself.  I might let you borrow mine, but I want it back… it is autographed…

It provides a unique look at housekeeping as a form of love, and meditation,  and so many times throughout had me nodding in agreement.  And more importantly it is amazingly written.  Adelaide makes a point of carefully choosing her words and building her sentences.  It was one of those books I couldn’t put down.

On a side note, I am feeling like myself again after two weeks of wondering why I bother getting up in the morning.  Even with snow, a flat tire, and allergies, I am feeling good.  Sorry for all the bummer posts in the last two weeks.
