101 in 1001 – the Day Zero project

I found out about this project and decided to try.  Below is my list of 101 things to do in 1001 days.  I will cross off items as I complete them, and write about some of the more interesting items.  I tried to do things that would cost little money, and I could do with family.  Inspired? Share your list too!

  1. Identify 100 things that makes me happy Completed  March 18, 2010
  2. Watch the sunrise and sunset in the same day
  3. plant a tree
  4. Create or go on a scavenger hunt April 2,3 2010
  5. Bake something for a friend
  6. sew a skirt
  7. Bake cupcakes April 1, 2010
  8. Answer the “50 Questions that will free your mind” April 8, 2010
  9. No fast food for a month
  10. Learn to ride a motorcycle
  11. Reconnect with someone I have lost touch with
  12. Read 100 books
  13. Host a board game night
  14. Put away $5 for every goal completed
  15. Get to target weight
  16. Go to 5 restaurants that we’ve never been to
  17. Have a snowball fight
  18. Send someone a care package
  19. Take pictures in a photo booth
  20. Paint my bedroom
  21. Make paper
  22. Keep my room clean for a month
  23. Go strawberry picking (or apple, or pumpkin…)
  24. Visit a waterfall
  25. Get a physical May 5, 2010
  26. Visit an art gallery
  27. Donate one can of food for each uncompleted item on list
  28. Surprise someone with flowers August 9, 2010
  29. Frame and display a photograph I have taken
  30. Sell something on Etsy April 30, 2010.  It was actually Art fire, but I will take it anyways!
  31. Watch five films recommended by other people – films I might not otherwise watch.
  32. Build a gingerbread house from scratch
  33. Compliment 10 strangers
  34. Go for a walk in the rain
  35. Use my fondue set
  36. Read an autobiography
  37. finish a jigsaw puzzle
  38. create a will, POA and guardianship
  39. learn how to properly fold a fitted sheet
  40. create one thing everyday for a month
  41. write 50 nice post it notes/notes in 50 random places for people to find
  42. walk 100kms in a month
  43. make a new friend
  44. go for coffee or meet up with friend once a week
  45. learn to knit
  46. go to a play Mother’s Day, 2010
  47. have a picnic
  48. Complete 50 acts of kindness
  49. Buy my mom a present on MY birthday
  50. make jam

  100. evaluate all this when I am done.

    I sent my mom 40 roses on my 40th birthday, with a note saying ‘Thank you for each year.’

    She was even more blown away by it than I thought she would be. She kept the card, and it was still in a little dish on the island after Dad died.

    Good luck with your list. It takes a lot of thought — even courage — to make a list like that.
